Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  It’s Animal Attack month and we’re kicking off the festivities with Phase IV, a mid- 70s sci-fi film where ants attempt to take over the Earth.  Can they be stopped by two ridiculously well-funded university scientists studying the ants’ organizational and offensive prowess with all the enthusiasm and urgency of a cadaver with overdue library books?

Movie Mandates: STAND BY ME (Kids, Not That One)

Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  To round out Kids (Not That One) month, my sister mandated we watch Stand By Me, a movie based on the Stephen King book, The Body.  So, why the title change?

We would assume the producers wanted to sell more soundtracks (yes, Stand By Me features prominently, along with a bevy of other bops from the 50s and 60s) and didn’t want the coming-of-age film to be mistaken for one of the glut of erotic thrillers packing theaters in the late 80s.

Molehill Mountain Episode 397 – Daredevil Ep3 Didn’t Do It For Me

Daredevil, Monster Hunter Wilds, and not much else.

  • 0:00 – There’s this movie where a samurai fights off 400 dudes in one 77-minute unbroken cut! I could only sit through 17 minutes
  • 11:58 – Daredevil is off to a good start but the third episode didn’t really work for me
  • 38:40 – Technical issues aside, I’m quite enjoying Monster Hunter Wilds!
