Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  Ani-May month concludes with my sister’s mandated movie: Grave of the Fireflies, an anime about a pair of young, sibling war orphans doing what they can to survive in war-ravaged Japan back in 1945.  No gravity-defying hairstyles.  No giant robots.  No tentacle monsters.  Just the hilarious misadventures of two innocent children slowly starving to death in squalor and misery.

It’s an animated treat for the entire family!

Welcome to Movie Mandates, a review show in which sibling cinephiles Andrew and Keleigh force each other to watch movies according to a monthly theme!  It’s Ani-May, the month where we indulge in animated films from Japan!  Hey, did you see the one about the busty high school girls with the short skirts and gravity-defying, rainbow colored hair who save the world by piloting giant robots with the one male who’s an insufferable loser but for some inexplicable reason his classmates, his homeroom teacher, his childhood friend, her mom, and his sister all want to jump his bones?  And there’s a talking cat?

Yeah, I guess that doesn’t narrow it down.  I should have been more specific.

Anyway, I mandated we watch something else.  A Silent Voice, is a about a guy who bullies a girl in grade school but feels bad about it and attempts to make amends years later.  Will she forgive him?  Should she forgive him?  Are there giant robots?

Molehill Mountain Episode 401 – The Least of YouTube’s Problems

Still super annoying though.

  • 0:00 – I accidentally ripped off my dentist
  • 2:54 – Incredibly, YouTube manages to make its platform worse
  • 8:10 – For next year’s Oscars, the academy members will have to actually watch all the films in a category to vote
  • 15:36 – TV shows. Do I prefer all episodes released at once? Or a more staggered release schedule?
  • 29:38 – Folks are surprised the thing The Last Of Us Part II is most well known for happened on the show
  • 39:40 – Andor’s first three season 2 episodes are just as boring as season one’s!
  • 42:24 – Monster Hunter Wilds’ first festival dropped this week and I’m quite enjoying it
