We need to put an executive hold status on OCR to prevent people proposing new projects for a few months, if not because then the project release queue will be as long as the judge's queue but because I have a problem saying no to a lot of people asking me to do things for them...

I have 4 people wanting to collab with me, 1 of them a project track. Why...me!? I'm new!

Anyway, projects really need to come to a halt, yeah. Jade's project almost made me scream FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Ah, we should stop talking about this here and start talking about it on superunmod! This IS the public project thread for NiGHTS; don't want it getting all messy and confused.

Luke: I have never seen that comic before, but it is hilariously accurate. VGMix is a joke these days.

Oh I absolutely miss VGMix 2....those were my early days, when the stuff I made on a Casio Keyboard with no quantizing and crappy un-eq'd guitars of low quality would get high marks for effort and whatnot. VGMix 2 gave me my start and the niche I hold now, but OCRemix made me work for it to get better. You honestly can't have one without the other in my mind and still have it be a balance. It's like Coke without generic-brand cola, Chipotle without vritfuel Bell, or Sephiroth without Lance Bass's voice...

Okay, enough of me waxing reminiscent. I know I have no right to talk since I proposed a project JUST after FF4 ended, but I also had no idea other people were either waiting in the wings to propose theirs (Jose's STILL waiting) or were going to do it rapid-fire at the same time I did! Yeah, Jade proposed her's back in Jan, but it didn't pick up steam until the thread was bumped not too long ago, and I love the fact that it's getting done, but seriously: any more and I'll feel like it's too much. The line between busy and overwhelmed is dangerously close. IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE, TAKE THIS!

Maybe thasauce should start organizing projects as well instead of just hosting some of the forums, that might clean it up a little. Yeah...disperse the lot, spread out the love, and- I sound like a love-making coach now.

LUNCHTIME!

Everyone wants their projects on OCR though, because that's the best way to get exposure. Nobody wants to do a project for ReMix:ThaSauce because the only people who are even aware that ReMix:ThaSauce exists are the folks on OCRs forum. They don't have their own self-sustained community.

Anyway: Yes, VGMix was worthwhile back in the days of version 2, but it is honestly nothing but a hollow shell of its former self, and I really doubt we'll ever see anything done with it any time soon. Most of the staff, especially virt, have all moved on with their life and careers. They don't even have the time to go in and fix user registration and song uploading on the current version of the site, much less code anything new.

Stick a fork in VGMix, it's done.

Well I guess that's why I wish thasauce would get a little bigger, simply because I can see it not as a VGMix 2 replacement, but as something of a stand-in. Alluding it to puzzles: the piece is about the same size, but it doesn't quite fit, but it's nothing that a good few hammerblows to get people's attention won't fix.

If it really is dead, they should just keep some forums up and take the site down, spend less on hosting and hopefully have them use it for better means. It's ridiculous what that takedown of VGMix 2 did to them: talk about getting hit by a freight train when moving in full motion, and as a result, VGMix X is nothing but a quadreplegic with alzheimers and a bowel obstruction. I pine for the days when I can go back and look at the "Stuff of Legends" list again, getting almost all my songs reviewed by some guy named Anar, and I still remember what someone said about my Chrono's Destruction of Venice mix:

It all sounds like it was done on a crappy keyboard, the kind that my school music room has. But, still, they don't seem out-of-place and it's pleasant to listen to. This song needs a shrine up to show people with inferior equipment that "yes, it can be done".

Probably a grotesque amount of build-up there but it was something like that that made my day and made the shitty shit I put out then worth doing and continuing...and eventually improving...

Anyways, yeah. Everyone does want their project on OCR. OCR would do well with a split: OCRemix and OCProjects  Start le revolucion from ze inside! JK, I like OCR and it shouldn't split cause then it'd be waring factions for the same fanbase.

The problem with ThaSauce is that it hasn't seen that much promotion, and not many people even know about it. When it was first created, it was something interesting and new, but more game music news sites have come along since then (like Game Music 4 All, Nobuooo, Original Sound Version, and a few others) that are more frequently updated and share more interesting things, making ThaSauce less of a viable source for updates. It just has never really caught on, and Rama and crew haven't really pushed it as much as they could and should have. I'd like to see another site too, but unless they step it up, RTS isn't it.

A ThaSauce project is not a good idea.

Even if it DID have the attention OCR does, here's the thing:

- there are a limited number of remixers
- thasauce and OCR; both tap into the same remixer pool, so the only
thing that making a ThaSauce project would do is save OCR some forum
space. That, and it would attract a lot of the OHC noobs, significantly
lowering the quality of the project.

A VGmix project would make more sense, that is, if the site still existed, because that's a completely different scene. Ashane, norg, housethegrate, Danimal Cannon, virt, BrainCells, and tons of other quality remixers hail from there (technically I'm talking about Dwelling of Duels but they pretty much go hand in hand).

Even so, there's still an over saturation of projects altogether. I think we need less of them.

A one-hour project would be cool.

Nice to know... Maybe I should stop the project while I'm at it.

Ooooooh no you don't! Nuh uh! No way! I wont let you, and the people you dragged outa remixing-retirement wont let you either. You're stuck, Jade.
