GAME DUELS vol.1 ~ a Video Game Mashup EPThanks to everyone for your support. See y'all for volume 2.

------------------------------------------
Welcome to a community event designed to bring together KNGI folks of all horizons.

In the latest episodes of Nitro Game Injection, Kyle & team have been pitting iconic characters against one another in a VGM arena for the "Versus Month". People were then able to vote for their favorite after the show.
"What does this have to do with anything?" you ask. Well, everything...
Welcome to the first NGI Game Duels!Tracklist:-Dj Mokram ~ Hagane (SNES) vs Prince of Persia 2008 (PS3/X360) [Ninja Warrior]-Evktalo ~ Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3) vs Knight'n'Grail (C64) [Ninja Warrior]-Rexy ~ Live-a-Live (SFC) vs Live-a-Live (SFC) [Cowboy Ninja]-Omigadrive ~ Ninja Gaiden 2 (NES) vs Metal Gear Solid 3 (PS2) [Cowboy Ninja]-Chernabogue ~ Final Fantasy VI (SFC) vs No More Heroes (Wii) [Ninja Warrior]-Otakatt ~ Album ArtworkCLAIMWIPDONEWhat is the concept?1-Select two characters/themes from the winner's list (ex: Ninjas and Warriors)
2-Choose two games featuring those characters/themes (ex: Tenchu and Golden Axe)
3-Pick one song from each game and mix them together in a single arrangement
What are the themes? The winners are:
NINJAS,
COWBOYS and
WARRIORS.
Combine any two of them to form a matchup of your choice.
The
Ninja theme proly doesn't need a description. (stealthy, skilled, lethal)

The
Warrior can be anyone fighting for something or a battle/war setting.
The
Cowboy can be either a gunslinger character or a western setting.
How does it work? -If the setting of the game fits the theme, then any song from the soundtrack is eligible.
-If you're picking a specific character, then you gotta arrange his/her theme song.
If a game doesn't use a theme prominently, but instead features one character that match it, you should pick that character's theme specifically. For example: Gun Smoke, Sunset Riders, Revenge of Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden all have obvious Cowboy or Ninja setting. So any song from their respective soundtracks would fit the theme in question. On the other hand, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VIII aren't ninja or cowboy games per se, yet both feature a character that fits one of the themes (Gray Fox and Irvine). In this case you'd need to arrange that specific character's theme.
What are the rules?-There are no genre restrictions nor creative limitations. Have fun, experiment, collab. The sky's the limit!
-Everyone can join, so long as they are signed up on KNGI, motivated and able to make decent music.
-There's a limit of 2~3 slots per character-combo, to avoid ending up with only one kind of combination.
-Remixers can modify their picks within the limits of reason, but preferably before the mixing begins.
-For the sake of making things manageable, remixes shouldn't exceed 5 minutes in length.
-While creative freedom is encouraged, the sources should still be recognizable to a degree.
What's the plan? The goal is to create an EP, released and promoted through the NGI network as a community project.Three more Versus match-ups are on the way, so there may also be another volume later, depending on interest.
Keep in mind this is a first for this kind of event, so everyone's thoughts and suggestions are welcome.
People who expressed interest, but couldn't make it:-TheJoker (Red Dead Redemption vs Assassin's Creed 2)
-pu_freak (Wild Gun vs ???)
Let the duels begin!
