This edition of NGI celebrates the birthday of seminal and legendary game composer Yasunori Mitsuda! Also, Larry gets distracted by the Atlanta Falcons football game, the three of them lament their lack of MAGFest, and a recount more of Larry’s Twitter escapades arguing the merits of dubstep. The trio also check out a couple of tracks from Apex 2013: Straight to the Top, a collaboration between OC ReMix and the Apex Tournament Series ,  entries from the MAGFest Dwelling of Duels competition, new releases from Ubiktune incuding Preschtale Variations and Danimal Cannon and Zef’s brand new album Parallel Processing, bLiNd’s latest release NESteryears, and more!

As announced last week, Slider will sadly be reducing her time as part of the show to focus on other projects. She will continue to make some appearances on future episodes though, so look out for her to appear on the show again soon!

Larry continues to shake off the debilitating disease that caused him to miss MAGFest XI, so Kyle flies solo for one segment before getting joined by Rexy, prolific OC ReMixer and host of the brand new show from our friends at RadioSEGA: SEGA Mixer Drive! Slider also makes her grand return and has a rather saddening announcement regarding her future on NGI. Rexy also calls Kyle’s manhood into question thanks to his affinity for the color purple, and the two recount some of the great acts from MAGFest last week while listening to some great music from Yuzo Koshiro, On Being Human, Armcannon, VikingGuitar, coda,  Benjamin Briggs, The OneUps, and more!

On this edition of Nitro Game Injection, Kyle, Larry and Slider get back into the swing of things by checking out new arrangements from albums released at Comiket 82, as well as new songs from OverClocked ReMix and Dwelling of Duels. They also check out various remixes from Tweex, Little V, a new original track from Leitbur, and an arrangement from doujin artist Puchi in honor of Ryu Umemoto, who sadly passed away one year ago. They also discuss the incredible MAGFest guest announcement made earlier this week, Zelda music at the Olympics, and more!

Versus Month stretches the definition of what a “month” is and carries on with a question that has raged through the ages: who would win in a battle between robots and vampires? NGI finally answers that question as Kyle is joined by OverCoat this week, filling in for the absent Larry and almost absent Slider. The two check out music from One Must Fall, Turrican 3, Armored Core 4, BlazBlue, Darkstalkers, BloodRayne: Betrayal, and more!

Originally this was slated to be the last round of Versus Month, but with the results of the voting now playing into the KNGI Game Duels EPs, there will be a sixth battle next week. You won’t want to miss the epic confrontation of Demons vs. Dinosaurs!

Since Slider was missing for most of the show, Otakatt filled in and provided the art challenge for this week: Robots vs. Vampires!

The Plants take on the Zombies in Round 4 of NGI’s Versus Month, featuring tracks from Metal Slug 3, House of the Dead 4, ZombieSmash!, and Resident Evil 2 representing the zombies while the plants use the power of Mega Man 2 and 6, Um Jammer Lammy, Final Fantasy VII, and the battle wraps up head-to-head with piano stylings from legendary Koji Kondo and nerdy powerhouse Jonathan Coulton! The crew also talk about game they never owned but rented or borrowed a lot, and Slider announces her new Tumblr blog.

It’s laundry day on Nitro Game Injection! Larry takes the show on the road with him as he drives through Atlanta to do his laundry, and Slider’s brother “Slipper” (or “Brider” ) commandeers the microphone for most of the show. Kyle is lost and confused and has no idea what’s going on, Larry drops all the details on the disappearance of the OC ReMix Kickstarter, and of course Versus Month continues: it’s a classic battle of strength versus magic this week as the Wizards take on the Warriors! Ryan8bit leads the charge for the Warriors, along with Nutritious, Scaredsim, Mazedude, Armcannon and zyk0,  and the Wizards retaliate with Level 99, Dhsu, Mustin, mithius and Crush 40 before the final confrontation featuring norg’s epic Wizards & Warriors medley!

Nitro Game Injection’s Versus Month event continues with Cowboys vs. Aliens! Slider has slid out of this episode in favor of San Diego Comic-Con, but Kyle and Larry celebrate the victory of ninjas over pirates in round 1 of NGI Versus Month by ninjaing into the show and receiving bacon, while discussing the Kickstarter projects for OCReMix and the OUYA alternative game console. Larry also details the plans for his newfound wealth, including re-funding NASA to discover intelligent life on alien planets and open up new inter-terrestrial remix collaboration opportunities. The guys also get distracted by the uber-nerdy subject of comic books, including the giant 12-month crossover of Archie’s Sonic and Mega Man coming in 2013, and check out music from Dr. Manhattan, virt, Jeff Ball, Joshua Morse, Autoscroll, ContraBand, Audio Aggregate, and more!
