Open Circuit #70: MAGFest X Recap (Part One)

January 21, 2012 By: jmr Category: Past Episodes - Open Circuit

For the second year in a row, host jmr attended MAGFest with a mission: document as many of the concerts as possible.  Armed with a portable audio recorder and a few too many 5 Hour Energy shots (and with some assistance from fellow Arecibo Radio host Obtuse), he attended and recorded just about all of the scheduled performances on the MAGFest Main Stage, Second Stage, and in the chip showcase in order to bring you this, the Open Circuit MAGFest X Recap special.

This week’s show features audience recordings from each of the performances on Thursday and Friday, including a one of a kind medley of UN Squadron and T-Square from Temp Sound Solutions, new chip tracks from Disasterpeace and Revengineers, Rare Candy riding the (double? triple!) Rainbow Road, an epic rendition of Ecco the Dolphin from This Place Is Haunted, and a facemelting performance of the entire NES Metroid soundtrack by Metroid Metal (which clocks in at a whopping 26 minutes)!

Tune in next Saturday for Part Two, which will feature recordings from Saturday’s performances!

Nitro Game Injection #136: Rhinocerous Blastoseed (MAGFest Retrospective featuring Ian Flynn)

February 04, 2011 By: KyleJCrb Category: Past Episodes - Nitro Game Injection

This episode is PACKED! Kyle & Larry take a look back at the many acts of MAGFest, while Larry recounts some of his experiences, including how he managed to survive a flight out of Atlanta during the worst snow storm in recent history. Also, returning to the show for the third time: The awesome Ian Flynn! Ian is the current writer of the Sonic The Hedgehog comic, and is also hard at work on launching the upcoming MEGA MAN comic adaptation, both published by Archie Comics. He spends several hours (!) giving us insight into his work on comics, including dropping some news on upcoming events in the Sonic and Mega Man books, and brainstorms with Kyle & Larry on the prospect of a Mega Man X comic series.

Also, Larry leaves early. But Kyle doesn’t hold that against him.

Much.
