This edition of NGI celebrates the birthday of seminal and legendary game composer Yasunori Mitsuda! Also, Larry gets distracted by the Atlanta Falcons football game, the three of them lament their lack of MAGFest, and a recount more of Larry’s Twitter escapades arguing the merits of dubstep. The trio also check out a couple of tracks from Apex 2013: Straight to the Top, a collaboration between OC ReMix and the Apex Tournament Series , entries from the MAGFest Dwelling of Duels competition, new releases from Ubiktune incuding Preschtale Variations and Danimal Cannon and Zef’s brand new album Parallel Processing, bLiNd’s latest release NESteryears, and more!
As announced last week, Slider will sadly be reducing her time as part of the show to focus on other projects. She will continue to make some appearances on future episodes though, so look out for her to appear on the show again soon!

I had the fortune of hosting a release party for zircon’s AMAZING new album, Identity Sequence. During the show I had a conference call with both Jill and Andrew Aversa, the brains behind the album, as well as the lovely Jeff Ball and Chris Gordon, and artist Jessie Lam. We all had a lot of fun and I asked them questions about the kind of amazing effort each one of them put forth towards making Identity Sequence. You can pick up the album for $10 right on his site. Really had a lot of fun hosting this album party, and zircon is allowing me to host the recorded show that includes the album itself and the interview segments. Slider checks in early in the show to let everyone know that yes, she is in fact still alive and just very busy, while later on Amanda Lepre joins the show to talk about the formation of two amazing video game music cover bands, Desecendants of Erdrick and Those Who Fight, as well as her gaming and music history and what’s coming up with her next solo effort!

My old friend, Andrew Aversa, aka zircon, released a new album recently. I played most of it on the show tonight, as well as favorites from a recently revived Stalking Duppi blog, which focuses on extremely obscure Japanese music from the 1980s. Had to play some stuff also from a new Ubiktune release, “I Miss You – Earthbount 2012,” unfortunately overshadowed by releases of a monolithic stature both before and after its release. Also caught up a bit with iamamiwhoami, a favorite experimental synth band of mine. Read on for the full playlist below.
