The Plants take on the Zombies in Round 4 of NGI’s Versus Month, featuring tracks from Metal Slug 3, House of the Dead 4, ZombieSmash!, and Resident Evil 2 representing the zombies while the plants use the power of Mega Man 2 and 6, Um Jammer Lammy, Final Fantasy VII, and the battle wraps up head-to-head with piano stylings from legendary Koji Kondo and nerdy powerhouse Jonathan Coulton! The crew also talk about game they never owned but rented or borrowed a lot, and Slider announces her new Tumblr blog.

Nitro Game Injection’s Versus Month event continues with Cowboys vs. Aliens! Slider has slid out of this episode in favor of San Diego Comic-Con, but Kyle and Larry celebrate the victory of ninjas over pirates in round 1 of NGI Versus Month by ninjaing into the show and receiving bacon, while discussing the Kickstarter projects for OCReMix and the OUYA alternative game console. Larry also details the plans for his newfound wealth, including re-funding NASA to discover intelligent life on alien planets and open up new inter-terrestrial remix collaboration opportunities. The guys also get distracted by the uber-nerdy subject of comic books, including the giant 12-month crossover of Archie’s Sonic and Mega Man coming in 2013, and check out music from Dr. Manhattan, virt, Jeff Ball, Joshua Morse, Autoscroll, ContraBand, Audio Aggregate, and more!

It’s a bit of a distracted show this week as NGI pays tribute to Konami!  Larry is concerned about the OCReMix YouTube suspension debacle (help ‘em out! ) and Slider is in the middle of working on Christmas presents, leaving Kyle to do his best to batten down the hatches and play songs from Konami greats like Rush’n Attack, Metal Gear, Gradius, Twinbee, and plenty of others. virt and TrueStar also stop by for a lengthy chat about the awesomeness that is TrueStar’s radio show Noise Channel, virt’s work with WayForward, and…butts.

Slider managed to sketch up a quick art challenge this week, recreating the classic scene from the first TMNT movie: “DAAAAAAAMN!”

This week, Kyle channels his inner Tommy Wiseau as Larry finally returns and spills (and shills ) the beans about his trip to the Tokyo Game Show and his involvement with the CIA, as well as his promotion to the BLACK DYNAMITE of OverClocked ReMix. Thanks to Entertainment System, Kyle, Larry, and Slider also reminisce about the Nintendo Cereal System and other video game cereal tie-ins, and start formulating ideas to monetize NGI with a cereal tie-in of its own: Nitro CRUNCH Injection! Look for it soon in a grocery store near you!

The NGI crew is also joined for an interview by Dustin “k-wix” Kulwicki, the main man behind the Cave Story ReMix Project and Mega Man 9: Back in Blue, as well as one of the featured composers (along with Daniel Baranowsky ) on the upcoming Nintendo 3DS release, Cave Story 3D! Dustin gives insight into the production behind all three projects, as well as teasing a potential upcoming album project that may or may not be in the works soon!
