NGI goes super-old school this week as they welcome a very special guest: Nick Burgess! Nick is the man behind one of the very first video game music radio shows and direct inspiration for KyleJCrb to start his own: Super Radio X! He is also half of Mega Man cover band Project X, along with Mike Gintz, who together also form the original music projects Clawjob and Hex Map. Nick comes on to talk about gaming and game music, as well as delve into the history of Project X and gives some insight into his new solo project, Wizard Planet!

Suraida dabbles into some Sonic, Harvest Moon, NiGHTS, and Mega Man Zero; Kyle has two selections from Mario games, a track from Ubiktune‘s fantastic compilation Wintertunes, and some Super Dodge Ball; and Larry hits some more obscure cuts from Border Down, Dewy’s Adventure and Clover Hearts, along with some choice hits from Contra and Omega Five available on OverClocked ReMix.

The three also get hyped for MAGFest as Larry does dishes LIVE ON THE AIR, resulting in another art challenge from Suraida: Super Dish Boy! Kyle also goes blind, which is always fun.

It’s a short show this week as Kyle & Suraida round out NGI’s Japan Month celebration with double the awesome, featuring tracks from Natsume AND Data East games! It’s a bit of a distracted show this week as NGI pays tribute to Konami!  Larry is concerned about the OCReMix YouTube suspension debacle (help ‘em out!) and Suraida is in the middle of working on Christmas presents, leaving Kyle to do his best to batten down the hatches and play songs from Konami greats like Rush’n Attack, Metal Gear, Gradius, Twinbee, and plenty of others. virt and TrueStar also stop by for a lengthy chat about the awesomeness that is TrueStar’s radio show Noise Channel, virt’s work with WayForward, and…butts.

Suraida managed to sketch up a quick art challenge this week, recreating the classic scene from the first TMNT movie: “DAAAAAAAMN!”

NGI celebrates yet another milestone and continues Japan Month with the music of one of the most celebrated, venerable game developers in the East: Square Enix! Larry, Kyle and Suraida celebrate the history of both Square and Enix with arrangements from Romancing SaGa, Rad Racer, Terranigma, Itadaki Street, Soul Blazer, Act Raiser, and more. They also get hyped for the legendary Nobuo Uematsu himself coming to MAGFest along with his band, the Earthbound Papas and discuss the original 3DS.

In addition to the celebration of Square Enix and the 175th episode, Kyle and Larry sit down for a chat with Robert Stjärnström, lead singer of the legendary SID metal band Machinae Supremacy! Suraida also hits us with a simple art challenge this week: ‘Heart’ featuring Kitty-N from Bust a Groove!
